Fringe Benefit Information for Certified Teaching Staff Half-Time and Greater

1.

Each employee is granted 16 sick days per year. Three sick days may be used as Personal/Emergency days. Personal/Emergency days shall not be taken on days immediately preceding or following a holiday. If at the end of any school year, the teacher has not used all Personal/Emergency days, up to four days may be carried over to be used the following school year, but in no case shall a teacher use more than six (6) Personal/Emergency days in one school year. Any of the above unused days are accumulated as sick leave up to a maximum of 190 days.

Each employee will pay .50 of 1% of his or her base salary or wage for individual health insurance coverage. The district pays a percentage of dependent medical coverage.

The District pays the single dental coverage for all employees.

4.

District 21 will purchase Disability Insurance for all employees.

5.

District 21 pays for group life insurance for a premium equal to the teacher's annual salary rounded to the nearest one thousand dollars.

6.

A tuition allotment shall be granted for approved graduate work done beyond the Bachelor's Degree up until the teacher receives a Master's Degree. No tuition allotment will be granted after a teacher has completed the course work for a Master's Degree. The allotment shall be the tuition cost to a maximum of $75.00 per semester hour for work completed and shall be paid after presentation of a paid receipt from the college and evidence that a grade of C or better was achieved.

Salary Information

1.

Placement on the teacher's salary schedule is contingent on employment verification from the employee's previous school district.

2.

Employees will receive their pay in 26 equal installments.

3.

It is the responsibility of the employee to send employment verification forms to their previous employers and have the completed forms sent to the District 21 Human Resources Office.

4.

New employees will receive up to 15 years service credit on the salary schedule for past full time teaching experience in public or parochial schools.

5.

District 21 shall pay 10% of each teacher's pay into the Illinois Teachers Retirement System.

6.

Teachers pay .0145 of their base salary for Medicare.

7.

1.All employees pay .50 of 1% annual salary for individual health insurance coverage.

8.

Employees are responsible for submitting official transcripts of all college or university work at the time of being hired or within 30 days thereafter.

9.

Employees will be required to submit official transcripts of any college or university work completed each year subsequent to his/her employment. Official transcripts must be submitted by September 1 of each school year.
