No, it is not necessary to send your resume to all the principals. All of the principals have access to the online applications, which is their initial tool for screening applicants.

- How are interviews scheduled in District 21?
|
Each building principal schedules their own interviews based on the needs of their individual school. You will receive a phone call from a principal to schedule your interview.

- Who interviews candidates in District 21?
|
Interview practices may vary slightly from school to school, however, most often you interview with a building administrator and a team of teachers from a particular school. At times, district-wide administrators are also involved in these interviews.

- When do you need my officials transcripts and/or teaching certificate(s)?
|
Through the interview process we only need copies of transcripts and/or teaching certificates. It is only when you have been officially hired that we need original copies of these documents.

- Can I apply to be a substitute teacher in your district until I hear about a teaching position?
|
Yes, we can always use substitute teachers. Please let us know which days you are available to sub. The same application is used for both teachers and substitute teachers.

- Does your district have a mentoring program for new staff?
|
Yes, Peer 2 Peer is our mentoring program for new staff. All new teachers are paired with a mentor. They meet with other new staff members to discuss more global teaching issues and also on a more informal basis to address specific questions as they surface.

- Does District 21 reimburse teachers for graduate coursework?
|
Yes, a tuition allotment shall be granted for approved graduate work done beyond the Bachelor’s Degree up until the teacher receives a Master’s Degree. In order to be eligible for tuition allotment, the teacher must submit the PRE-APPROVAL FORM FOR COLLEGE WORK form prior to the beginning of the class. The allotment shall be the tuition cost to a maximum of $75.00 per semester hour for work completed and shall be paid after presentation of a paid receipt from the college and evidence that a grade of C or better was achieved.

- Does District 21 give credit for out of district experience?

Outside experience credit is given for up to 15 years pending verification and district approval.
